The 3rd Annual Clash of the Playwrights Contest

Deadline for Submission: July 1, 2019
Winner Notification: August 1, 2019
*Winners will be selected by a committee of theatre professionals

Submission Guidelines

• Only 1 play submission per playwright
• Submission must be received via US Postal Service by July 1st (scripts will not be returned)
• $5 Submission Fee

All submissions must:

• be original, unpublished and previously unproduced.
• be COMEDY or MYSTERY in genre.
• be family friendly (or editable for content).
• take place in 1 location with minimal set changes.
• be limited to a cast of 8 performers (or less).
• be stapled or bound with all pages numbered.
• contain 2 script copies.
• include a list of all characters (with brief character description).
• include a one paragraph synopsis of the play.

Awards

Plays should be between approximately 90-120 minutes

1st PLACE WINNER

• Receives staged reading (2019) and a fully-produced production of winning script to be staged at Chaffin’s Barn Theater (2020) with professional actors, director, and designers.

2nd & 3rd PLACE WINNERS

• Receive a staged reading of submitted script at Chaffin’s Barn Theatre with professional actors.
